Softscape Locks in Solid First Quarter
Sales Rise Significantly on New and Expanded Customer Commitments

Wayland, MA – April 17, 2008 - Softscape, the global leader in integrated people management software, today announced a record first quarter with a 129 percent rise in sales bookings over the first quarter of 2007 that positions the company to exceed its profitability goals. Softscape attributes its growth to increasing global demand and continued expansion of existing customers’ talent management initiatives.

Softscape continued to maintain high customer satisfaction and retention rates with many long-term customers increasing their human capital management (HCM) deployments in the first quarter. Based on a third-party audit, Softscape achieved a three-year average customer retention rate of 96 percent and is currently maintaining a 98 percent 12-month rate. Many new customers also joined the Softscape community in the first quarter, including the University of Notre Dame, document processing and postal solutions provider Böwe Bell + Howell, a global biopharmaceutical services provider, and a large, global consumer products company.

Overall new SaaS bookings increased significantly in the first quarter compared to the same period last year, and license bookings also rose as purchased software remains a viable choice for almost a third of new customers. The forecast for the second quarter looks to surpass expectations with continued growth coming specifically from large, global enterprises.

In addition, the first quarter launched Softscape’s third annual “State of the Global Talent Nation” report. The report, which offers insight into the increasing demand for strategic human capital management solutions, found that 94 percent of human resources professionals feel that their personnel are not adequately prepared to meet their companies’ future goals. The issues facing organizations are related to employee retention, development, and performance, and these concerns have the full attention of senior management.
